CNC Arc 4-Roll Plate Rolling Machine

CNC Arc 4-Roll Plate Rolling Machine

Overview

The CNC Arc 4-Roll Plate Rolling Machine is an advanced metal sheet rolling equipment that combines CNC technology with a unique 4-roll arc structure. It can efficiently and precisely roll metal plates into various shapes.

Structural Components

Roll Shaft System: It typically consists of an upper roll, a lower roll, and two side rolls. The upper roll is generally fixed and can rotate in forward and reverse directions. The lower roll performs vertical linear motion to clamp the plate. The two side rolls are driven by hydraulic cylinders and can slide up and down along linear tracks to assist in adjusting the plate's posture and controlling the bending radius.

Drive System: Hydraulic drive is widely adopted due to its advantages of high transmission efficiency and large torque.

CNC System: Utilizing a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), operators can input parameters such as plate dimensions, material, and rolling shape via a Human-Machine Interface (HMI). The CNC system automatically controls the movement of the rolls based on these parameters to achieve an automated rolling process.

Frame Structure: The frame adopts a fully welded steel structure and undergoes vibratory stress relief treatment to eliminate internal stress, ensuring the stability and precision of the equipment during long-term, high-intensity operation.

Working Principle

The plate is placed between the upper and lower rolls. By adjusting the side rolls to the appropriate angle, the plate edges are ensured to be aligned. The lower roll moves upward to clamp the plate between the upper and lower rolls. Then, one side roll rises to pre-bend the plate. After pre-bending, the other side roll continues to operate, cooperating with the rotation of the upper and lower rolls to gradually roll the plate into a cylinder. During the rolling process, the bending radius of the plate can be precisely controlled by adjusting the upper roll's pressure and the side rolls' angle, ultimately forming the required arc or cylindrical workpiece. Rounding (calibration) is achieved through the combined action of the two side rolls rising to work with the upper roll.

Features & Advantages

High-Precision Rolling: The 4-roll design can automatically center the plate, reducing manual adjustments and preventing misalignment, which is especially suitable for processing long plates. Meanwhile, its strong pre-bending capability allows for pre-bending both ends of the plate without flipping, ensuring overall rolling consistency and higher product roundness.

High-Efficiency Production: It can complete pre-bending, rolling, and rounding in a single pass. Compared to 3-roll plate rolling machines that require multiple adjustments for the same operations, it significantly saves time and improves production efficiency, making it ideal for batch production.

Material & Cost Savings: Precise pre-bending avoids the waste of plate ends and reduces material loss. Furthermore, the coordinated 4-roll system distributes force more evenly, resulting in smoother motor loads. Long-term use achieves optimized energy consumption and cost savings.

Strong Adaptability to Complex Processes: By adjusting the pressure of the side rolls, variable-curvature rolling can be easily achieved. It can process complex shapes such as conical and elliptical parts, and handle thicker or high-strength materials like stainless steel and alloy steel.

High Automation & Safety: It is easy to integrate with CNC systems for automated control, reducing manual intervention. At the same time, the plate is secured by multiple rolls, reducing the risks associated with manual operations. The equipment is usually equipped with safety devices such as overload protection and emergency stop buttons, ensuring safer operation.

Application Fields

It is widely used in industries with high precision requirements for arc-shaped workpieces. In the pressure vessel industry, it is used to roll cylindrical shells for boilers, storage tanks, and heat exchangers. In the construction machinery industry, it produces arc-shaped outer shells for excavator and crane cabins, as well as hydraulic cylinder bodies. In the chemical and petrochemical industries, it manufactures corrosion-resistant arc-shaped workpieces like reaction kettles and pipe elbows. In the wind and nuclear power industries, it rolls segmented sections of wind turbine towers and large arc-shaped structural components for nuclear power equipment.
